2024-25 boys basketball preview: Brennan Bears hope tough schedule leads to gold
Brennan ’s ambitious schedule is primed with a deep playoff run in which the Bears hope end with a Class 6A state championship. The Bears open their season Saturday against Oak Hill Academy as part of the Houston Tip Off . Brennan follows with a Nov. 16 matchup against Dynamic Prep from the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the Noble Classic at The Colony . Both opponents are ranked in ESPN ’s list of top 25 boys basketball programs in the country.
Junior guard/forward Isaiah Ward was an Express-News Super Team member last year. Senior guard Camden Cowgill, Koty’s son, is one of the area’s top 3-point shooters. District 26-5A will be a battle Wagner is the team to beat in District 26-5A, but it won’t be easy in a league loaded with talent. Helping the Thunderbirds’ cause is the return of junior forward TreVaun Clark, an Express-News Player of the Year finalist and the district’s defensive player of the year last season.
