Starkeyvon Powell, 19, of Montgomery, is charged with receiving stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, possession of marijuana, attempting to elude police, and illegal possession of a firearm. On May 13 around 2:45 p.m., Powell was seen driving a stolen car on Federal Drive near Atlanta Highway.
About five minutes later, he was seen speeding on Oak Forest Drive. Law enforcement tried to stop him, but he fled and a chase ensued, court documents say. He turned onto Eastdale Road South and collided with another car and continued to flee. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to an are hospital for treatment, per court records.
Powell fled until he crashed on East Shirley Lane, got out of the car, and continued to flee on foot. Police took him into custody after a short chase. Inside the stolen car, officers found a backpack with a gun and what they believe to be marijuana inside. Powell is currently being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a bond of over $100,000.
