Texas Educator Lauren Martin Advances in Nationwide Teacher Competition

Austine educator Lauren Martin, who teaches 4th grade at the charter school NYOS, has advanced to the finals of the nationwide competition that celebrates educators and raises money for nonprofits. The contest has raised over $6 million since 2024.

Organizers say the contest has raised more than $6 million since 2024. The winner of America’s Favorite Teacher will receive: $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, a feature in Reader’s Digest, and a school assembly with Bill Nye! Martin says the best part of teaching is helping students recognize their potential.

Voting for the 2026 America’s Favorite Teacher competition ends Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time, which is 9 p.m. Central Time. The winner is expected to be announced on or around June 5. An Austin educator is the only Texas teacher still in the running to become America’s Favorite Teacher.
