A convicted sex offender with multiple prior child sexual abuse convictions in another state faced charges in Alabama, but only one of those convictions could be used in sentencing.The District Attorney’s Office worked with state lawmakers to draft a fix, and it passed during this year’s legislative session. “When a defendant is facing that, you could really get plea bargains or plea negotiations can take place that really allow some severe prison time and prevent it from having to go through trial again,” Bray said.Former Ft.
