Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen found that over 3,000 nonresidents were registered to vote in the state.
The decision came after Secretary of State Wes Allen found 3,251 voters registered with a federal noncitizen identification number. Voter registrations have since been deactivated.If a person has recently become a citizen, Allen said they must go to their county board of registrars to re-register with an Alabama driver’s license or a valid last four digits of their Social Security number.
Ahead of the election, the secretary of state is warning Alabamians to be mindful while registering to vote, as pre-filled ballots are not considered illegal.
