Mamdani reunited with his former Republican rival for a sketch about animal adoptions over the weekend.
Mamdani and Sliwa participated in the skit at New York City’s Inner Circle Dinner this weekend. A clip of the skit, whichreported was about cat adoptions, went viral on X. The viral clip shows Sliwa quip about"destroying sinister, old political dynasties," while Mamdani jokes about being a"content creator" who does"a little governing on the side.
" It marks a bipartisan moment after a contentious campaign to lead the nation’s largest city between Mamdani, Sliwa and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent.The video had been viewed more than 850,000 times by Monday morning. Reaction to the skit was mixed, but many were shocked by the collaboration. “What is this s***? Curtis Sliwa doing a skit with Zohran Mamdani?” posted conservative commentator Don Keith.Greg Kelly, a Newsmax host, wrote to X,"First they Colluded together to destroy New York-now they do an Unfunny, Bizarre"skit"-they were FRIENDS and Co-conspirators all along. Thanks CURTIS!""Sliwa and Mamdani both love NYC despite being in opposite parties. It’s only Cuomo who dripped with contempt for the city. This cross-partisan skit is refreshing and the only people who might hate it are Cuomo supporters and maybe some woke scolds. Both are yesterday’s news," wrote Asad Dandia of New York Narratives on X.
