Latest Manchester United news following the win over Fulham with Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo full of praise for each other
Joshua Zirkzee has made his feelings on Kobbie Mainoo perfectly clear after Manchester United's 1-0 win against Fulham. The 2024/25 Premier League season kicked off at Old Trafford with United hoping to bounce back immediately from their Community Shield defeat to Manchester City.
In what was a rather lacklustre game, Erik ten Hag made some early substitutions with Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho replacing Mason Mount and Amad Diallo just after the hour mark. As the game became more open, it was Fulham that were able to dominate but they could not take advantage of their control and ultimately paid the price.
Garnacho had the chance to double United's lead late on but he scuffed his effort following Marcus Rashford's unselfish pass with the goal at his mercy. Nonetheless, the Reds saw out the win to kick off the new campaign with three points and a clean sheet. With that one-word message to Zirkzee clearly in reference to his goal, the Netherlands international made his own thoughts on Mainoo clear as he replied, "general." Zirkzee also reposted Garnacho's social media post congratulating him on his first goal with the Argentina international the one who picked up the assist.
