The Alaska State Fair held its 4-H Small and Large Livestock Showmanship Thursday morning at the Craig Taylor Farm Exhibits.
The 18th annual weighing of the state’s largest pumpkin at the Alaska State Fair kicked off Monday with another winner from Anchorage grower Dale Marshall.PALMER, Alaska - The Alaska State Fair held its 4-H Small and Large Livestock Showmanship Thursday morning at the Craig Taylor Farm Exhibits, and young ones took the attention.
“The kids go out there in their different age groups,” Karleen Wilson, a Mat-Su 4-H Volunteer and Parent, said. “Each kid is watched by the judge one at a time, and they show their animal to the best of their ability.” This year, Wilson said, around 40 kids are participating in the small stock and around 80 in the large stock.
