Up to 3 inches of rain is possible through Prince William Sound by Thursday morning

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Gusty winds things morning are being seen from the Aleutians, through Southwest Alaska, Southcentral, and as far north as the Alaska Range. These winds gusting as high as 60 mph will remain with us through Tuesday, with rain gradually spreading across the Southern Mainland.Windy conditions through the night kept temperatures warm for many areas across Southcentral, as temperatures this morning are sitting anywhere from the lower 40s to near 60 degrees.

While up to 3 inches of rain will fall through Prince William Sound, the rest of Southcentral will see 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain through early Thursday morning. It’s likely that this upcoming stretch of rain, could cement August just outside the top 5 wettest on record for Anchorage, with this summer closing out as one of the wettest as well.

While there will be brief spells of dry weather with each passing wave of rain, be prepared for an overall uptick in wetter weather for the panhandle through the rest of this week. As a result, highs will remain in the upper 50s and lower 60s as the season draws to an end.A wind advisory is in effect for the Eastern Alaska Range until 11 pm Tuesday evening, for winds up to 60 mph.
