The warning has been put in place from 1pm until 9pm this evening and members of the public are being advised to stay alert.
Thunderstorms and heavy downpours “may cause flooding and travel disruption,” according to meteorologists.
In addition to the yellow warning for thunderstorms and heavy downpours, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has also issued a flood warning for the Ayrshire region.A spokesperson said: “This alert is for potential flooding from surface water.
