Judge took batting practice on the field Tuesday for the fourth time in the last five days — there was no on-field batting practice before Sunday’s day game in Denver — and then did some light defensive work in right field. Aaron Judge smiles during batting practice as Yankee manager Aaron Boone stands by prior to a game against the Los Angeles Angels Tuesday, July 18, 2023.Boone indicated that Judge’s next step in his rehab process will be advancing to running that includes cutting and movements as he would make in the course of a real game.“He’s running pretty well,” Boone said.
But the Yankees have at least kept the door open for it to happen sooner than later, since Judge has not yet been transferred to the 60-day IL, which would keep him out at least until Aug. 3.
