Bayer Leverkusen are dealing with several injury concerns heading into the Champions League clash against Liverpool. Alonso was linked with replacing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager earlier this year before the club appointed Arne Slot as their new head coach.
Mukiele has only made five appearances for Leverkusen so far this season but did add versatility to Alonso's defensive options. Mukiele joins fellow defender Jeanuel Belocian on the injury list for Leverkusen ahead of the clash against Liverpool. Belocian recently underwent surgery for an ankle injury and no timeframe has been given for the 19-year-old to return to the matchday squad. With Mukiele and Belocian unavailable, Alonso is running out of defenders to select to face Liverpool.
