Previewing Thursday night's WNIT Super 16 game between the Ducks and Toreros at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon
USD advanced to the Women’s NIT Super 16 by beating Long Beach State 75-57 and UC Irvine 58-48. The Toreros have dominated the glass in the first two games, outrebounding the Beach and the Anteaters by a combined 104-56. Rebounding will be much more challenging against an Oregon team that ranks 52in the nation out of 361 teams at plus-5.2 rebounds per game. The Ducks are led inside by 6-8 center Phillipina Kyei, who averages 10.8 boards per game.
USD’s leading rebounder is 6-1 Kasey Neubert . La Jolla Country Day product Kiera Oakry is the only player averaging doubles figures in scoring , but three others score between 9.0 and 9.6 points per game.Oregon has not been pushed in the first two rounds of the tournament, routing North Dakota State 96-57 and Rice 78-53. The Ducks are led by point guard and La Jolla Country Day product Te-Hina Paopao, who is third on the team in scoring , second in assists and tops in steals .
