University of San Diego sophomore Kylie Horstmeyer scores a game-high 15 points, 10 above her average and one shy of her career best
The dream of every college basketball player who laces up a pair of hightops is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Fall short there and the next goal is the NIT. For the eighth time in Cindy Fisher’s 17-year run as the University of San Diego women’s head coach, the Toreros are playing in the WNIT.
“This experience is amazing,” said sophomore Kylie Horstmeyer, who scored a game-high 15 points, 10 above her average and one shy of her career best. “You get the opportunity to play in the postseason, especially with this team and some of my best friends. It’s absolutely incredible.” The Toreros were particularly stifling in the first half when the Anteaters made just six of 31 shots . The Toreros, though, struggled shooting in the first half as well and led just 24-16 at the break.
