Hayley Bordacs has created a new space that's different from the standard barber shop
A Nottinghamshire woman has opened up a brand new barber shop to bring more ‘inclusivity’ to a ‘typical male environment’. Hayley Bordacs, 30, opened Eclipse Barber Studio on September 19, in Chilwell Retail Park, Chilwell.
Eclipse Barber Studio has opened inside of a unit at The Gym Group, in Chilwell Retail Park, which opened in July 2022. Hayley previously worked at Deakin & White, in Toton, and spent six months looking for a ‘perfect’ space to open her inclusive barber shop. “It’s quite a small room, it’s quite cosy. The way I’ve set it up is just quite welcoming for people. The music as well I don’t have really loud blaring music, it’s quite relaxing.
The barber continued: “We’ve got an app which you can download straight from the app store which makes it really easy to book an appointment. Which people really like because mostly in barber shops it’s a walk-in and wait service, whilst having an appointment makes it a bit more personal because there’s not loads of people standing around or waiting around.
“You get quite a few who are a bit more challenging who have got autism or they’ve got different needs and they find it a lot better coming to me in this space. It’s just really calm for them, it really helps in that sense as well. “They have no issues, I’m fully booked all day every day, it’s not like blokes have an issue going to a woman anymore but also women find it less threatening to come to a woman because you know what you are getting sort of thing.”
