Woman cited for leaving dog outside in freezing temperatures: Brunswick Hills Township Police BlotterBrunswick Hills Township Police DepartmentA woman was charged Jan. 27 with not providing proper shelter for a companion animal after police were called to her home in the eary morning hours of Jan.
25 for a dog left tied to a bush and barking continuously. Police attempted to remove the dog several times but were unable to do so, and no one at the home answered when police knocked on the door several times. Officers were able to identify the residents as a employee of an area fire department and his wife. The man was eventually contacted at work and was able to reach his wife. The wife and another woman who was at the home that evening each accused the other of leaving the dog outside and forgetting to bring it inside. The wife also reportedly made conflicting statements while speaking with police, stating she did not hear the dog barking or police at the door while complaining that officers were “banging on the door waking everyone up.”A woman was cited for criminal damaging and criminal trespassing at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 17 for using billiards chalk at a bar to write on a patio tarp. The woman was reportedly told by bar employees not to do so. Police spoke to the woman at her place of employment and she reportedly said she “thought the chalk was there to write on the tarp.” She was cited and told not to return to the bar.Police responded to reports of a missing stop sign at the intersection of Topaz Lane and Grafton Road at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 22. The sign was located in a nearby yard with tire tracks leading to it. The residents at the home where the sign was found reportedly did not know how the sign was damaged.A Parma man was cited for operating a motor vehicle impaired and failure to maintain assured clear distance following a two-car crash at the intersection of Substation and Center roads at 8:07 p.m. Jan. 22. Police reportedly saw the man stumbling outside his car when they arrived at the scene. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and refusing to submit to a breath test.
