A 60-year-old woman's body and her dog have been recovered from the Kings River in California.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says a large group of people tied eight rafts together and attempted to float down the Kings River from Kelly Beach in Fresno County on Saturday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., FCSO received a call from a man who said two of the rafts had flipped over, and a woman in her 60s and a dog were missing. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team and CAL FIRE searched the river Saturday afternoon utilizing helicopters, drones, and rafts on the water. "People jump on the rafts and float ... It's a good four hours. You're baking in the sun, you're consuming beverages, you know you're going to get tired out fast, you're going to not see what's coming, and you're going to get pushed into the trees," said Tullus. "That's game over; if you're not wearing a life jacket, at least you're going to have a hard time with it.

The woman and the dog's bodies were recovered around 6:30 p.m., according to Chris Tullus from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office also says it's not smart for a large group of people to tie rafts together and float down the river because they could get stuck on anything.
