Ongoing rain has led a to the possibility of a near flood in the Chena River by the Moose Creek Dam.
The Moose Creek Dam was used to regulate high water levels from snow melt in the Chena River . FAIRBANKS, Alaska - As ongoing rains continue to create a rise in water levels, part of the Chena River is forecasted to come close to flooding in the coming days.
Those water levels are expected to keep rising for a few more days with one spot in particular seeing a near flood conditions. The minor action stage kicks in at 22.5 feet with the flood stage being 24.5 feet. The two feet in between those two heights marks the minor action stage. “So river’s going to be near bank full,” said Billings.
