Winter Storm Watch Issued for Several Pennsylvania Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for several counties in Pennsylvania, including Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges, and Higher Elevations of Indiana, as well as Venango, Forest, Clarion, Jefferson, and Indiana counties. The watch is in effect from Wednesday 7 p.m. until Thursday 10 a.m. and warns of heavy mixed precipitation, possible power outages and tree damage due to ice, and hazardous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch at 1:23 p.m. on Monday valid from Wednesday 7 p.m. until Thursday 10 a.m. for Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges and Higher Elevations of Indiana as well as Venango, Forest, Clarion, Jefferson and Indiana counties.

"Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible, especially on untreated roads and surfaces. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes," states the weather service. "Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation."Winter weather can make driving treacherous, leading to over 6,000 weather-related vehicle fatalities and over 480,000 injuries each year.
