A winter storm watch has been issued for Utah’s mountains, where 1-2 feet of snow is expected this week — with as much as 3 feet possible in some areas.

The valleys will be turning white as well. Snow is expected in Salt Lake City this week — somewhere between 6-12 inches could accumulate,But first, wind: The Salt Lake Valley and some central valleys are under a wind advisory most of Monday, with gusts of up to 55 mph possible. Winds are expected to diminish Monday night.
Overnight Tuesday, the chance of precipitation rises to 90%, with snow accumulations of half an inch or less expected. The chance of snow falls to 30% on Thursday, although another 1-3 inches are possible. The high Thursday will reach about 31 degrees.
