The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges, and Higher Elevations of Indiana from Friday 4 a.m. until Saturday 10 a.m. with 4 to 7 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 35 mph expected. Travel could be very difficult, impacting Friday's morning and evening commutes. The weather service urges residents to report snow or ice accumulations and provides winter driving safety tips.

A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 12:37 p.m. valid from Friday 4 a.m. until Saturday 10 a.m. for Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges and Higher Elevations of Indiana.

"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes," states the weather service. "Please report snow or ice accumulations by calling 412-262-1988, posting to the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or using Twitter @NWSPittsburgh."Winter weather can make driving treacherous, leading to over 6,000 weather-related vehicle fatalities and over 480,000 injuries each year.
