Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey writer and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield opens up about his unfilmable first script that had to be scrapped.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey director opens up about the unfilmable first script that had to be scrapped. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey became a viral sensation for turning beloved childhood icons into murderous nightmare creatures.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, Frake-Waterfield opened up about his first draft of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, calling it "unfilmable." Only the rights to the 1926 version of the character were available to be used, with Disney owning the rights to their iteration of the character, making the writing process complicated as to what aspects could be used.

"It was unfilmable. I had to literally trash that script and start anew. I had to be really careful about what I was drawing inspiration from. Only the 1926 version is in the public domain, so those were the only elements I could incorporate. Other parts like Poohsticks and Tigger, and Pooh’s red shirt - those aren’t elements I can use because they’re the copyright of Disney and that would get me in a lot of trouble.

The most enticing aspect of the film for some audiences is the unique spin it puts on beloved characters. Many are likely to be pulled in by the potential spectacle, with some with fond memories of the Winnie the Pooh characters may be ill-prepared for distinct ways it will warp their childhood icons. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is a film that will thrive on its concept, as the film intends to deliver on blood and guts.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has already earned over $1 million in Mexico, with the film now branching out to American theaters where it is set to scare up even more viewers enraptured by the viral sensation. A sequel and planned cinematic universe featuring Bambi and other beloved characters is already in the works.Source: Yahoo! Entertainment
