Firefighters have fully contained a wildfire in Franklinville Township that sparked Wednesday night and quickly burned 150 acres.Investigators discussed their concerns about more wildfires in New Jersey due to the lack of rain and overall dry timber and forest beds.
Fire investigators say more than 150 acres were consumed by a wildfire that sparked Wednesday night in Franklinville Township.Firefighters battled the blaze overnight in the area of Pennsylvania and Proposed avenues and fully contained it on Thursday morning.At its most aggressive, investigators said the fire threatened over a dozen structures. No evacuations were issued during the firefight.Investigators have not said what started the fire.Officials from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said they are also still investigating the origins of a wildfire in Pennsville that burned over 200 acres.The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said the threat of wildfires remains high due to lack of rain which has dried out timber and forest beds.Firefighters hope April showers will do their part and dampen wooded area ahead of drier summer months.
