A widespread power outage affecting tens of thousands of customers in Anchorage and the Mat-Su areas has electric repair crews scrambling Monday afternoon.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - According to its outage map, as many as 45,000 customers in Anchorage were out of power around 5:30 p.m., and as many as 24,000 customers in the Mat-Su were out as of 6:10 p.m.
Hasquet said a possible power problem along the Railbelt in Alaska could be to blame for the outages, but also said the company was investigating the issue more fully as of 6 p.m. Monday.
