After making his directorial debut with Insidious: The Red Door, Patrick Wilson reveals whether he'd be willing to direct The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Patrick Wilson, who makes his directorial debut with Insidious: The Red Door, is unsure if he also wants to direct The Conjuring: Last Rites. The "scream king" actor is best known for his portrayal of the paranormal investigator Ed Warren alongside Vera Farmiga as his wife Lorraine in The Conjuring Universe, starring in three main installments and the 2019 spinoff Annabelle Comes Home, with the duo set to return for a fourth film.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In a new interview with ComicBook.com for Insidious: The Red Door, Wilson was asked whether he would be interested in directing The Conjuring 4. The actor-turned-director gave a nuanced answer, saying he would need to "see the story" before making a decision about directing. He also says that, no matter what his next directorial project is, it needs to "speak to" him before he agrees to get behind the camera again.
The thing is, I don't know. All those guys are obviously my friends and I know them well and I wouldn't dare try to pitch myself for something I didn't feel passionate about. So the honest-to-God truth, and I really mean this, and it sounds so lame, but I would have to see the story. I know we'll be taken care of as characters and actors. I love those movies so much. I love David Leslie Johnson and all the writing that he's done.
So I know that the next movie that I will choose to do or that chooses me, it will have to be something extremely personal that I can shape to things that I believe in. I can do this movie because I geared it around a father/son. A kid in art school like I went to. I went to theatre college. So there were things that I felt like I had a deep passion for, because I am all in. There hasn't been a day in four years that I haven't thought about this movie.
What We Know About The Conjuring 4 The fourth main entry in The Conjuring Universe is officially titled The Conjuring: Last Rites, which suggests it will be the final film in the horror franchise. The franchise's producer, original director, and overall mastermind James Wan previously hinted at such when he said the fourth film will "potentially wrap up" the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
