If the whole Days of ’47 Parade scene just isn’t your “thing” but you still feel like making merry in Utah on July 24, blow off Pioneer Day and celebrate Pie and Beer Day instead.
An official party will be held in downtown Salt Lake City, and many local breweries are celebrating in their own way.
For $25, attendees will get five pairs of pie and beer. There will be more than 8,000 slices of pie ready to distribute and 20 different beers from about 35 different bakers and brewers. This sprawling, multibar event starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 11. The first “supply stop” is at The Ruin, at 159 S. Main St. There, during check-in from 4 to 6 p.m., you’ll get your “passport,” which you need to get stamped four times in order to qualify for a drawing for prizes at the end.
