Spring training is is spring training. The stats don’t count as soon as the first hit of opening day but. You know there, there aren’t a lot of other options there for them in that starting rotation to have, you know, made that trade and to to have given him that spot pretty much right off the bat.I think they made the trade off of what he did in the second-half of last season for the Pirates.He was put into the rotation or he returned to the rotation, I should say, and really pitched well down the stretch for for the Pirates and the the opposition hit 218 against them for the season.
He only hit what maybe 209 something right around there for the season, but he took off in the postseason.That you know, that really helped his confidence and you can see it.He’s driving in runs, so I think what we’re seeing right now, Joe, is just kind of the development of a young shortstop and hopefully it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
It’s just like kind of the the first real step to the baseball season, the home opener, there’s always.Around the team, a lot of enthusiasm and you know it’s just, you know, it’s just part of the season it but it’s, but it’s not part of the season. It’s always really nice to see that and the the introductions and and the the fly over is always good.There’s the the fly over at the during the national anthem, but you know, every year we we we get to the the thundering is the the planes fly overhead is always you know a special treat.As far as that, when that home opener does sell out, the guardians will put the the $49 ballpark pass on sale.
Obviously it’s it’s got to help only having to travel, you know, basically half of what the Dodgers are for.Joe, not just Cleveland, but the travel is is, you know is is close to ideal as as you can have it for you know for a big league ball player. What do you think about that? That’s got to make Steven boat feel pretty good after after just one season. He’s up there with guys like Dave Roberts and you know Pat Murphy, I guess the rookie manager of the the Milwaukee Brewers, also a manager of the year.
