Hinchliffe Stadium opens in Paterson following decades of abandonment

One by one, the Ghosts from Paterson’s Eastside High stepped off a yellow bus and hurried inside Hinchliffe Stadium, a 90-year-old haunt that hadn’t hosted a baseball game in 26 years, at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. They carried worn gloves and eyed recently posted dimensions: 327 feet to right field, 385 to center and 320 to left. The same advertisement for Knock ‘Em Dead Pest Control that featured a drawing of a supine insect was affixed to both foul poles.
