Winter storm forecasts call for snow to start falling a few hours before the morning commute making for a hazardous ride to work Monday.
Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic counties should see the first flakes flying by around 4 a.m. That’s when a winter storm watch kicks in for five counties, which are expected to bear the brunt of the storm with the potential for up to 8 inches of snow. It could start a little later in coastal areas of those counties.
“It will come down hard, especially around the rush hour in the morning,” said Trent Davis, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service Mount Holly office.Sunday’s warm temperatures in the mid 50s will help commuters a little because the roads won’t cool down as fast tonight, Davis said. Temperatures predicted to plunge into the 20′s overnight into Monday are setting the stage for the storm.
