Project officials with the agency said they hope to bring a finalized side-running design to the SFMTA board of directors in November
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency staff behind the reconfigured Valencia Street bike lane are going public with their designs, three months after officials endorsed shifting the center lane to a side-running design.
While the SFMTA introduced the center-running bike lane as part of a one-year pilot project, Stanis noted that the side-running plan would become an enduring part of Valencia Street. “There is a lot that goes into that price tag,” Stanis said. “We have about three-and-a-half months to come up with a final plan, but we are heavily considering all of that.”

Officials also consulted with city departments to determine accessibility issues, seeking out the San Francisco Fire Department to pinpoint where to preserve emergency vehicle access and Muni employees to see which overhead wires could be taken down.
