The president of the union that represents Southwest's Flight Attendants told CNN on Monday that the phone system the company uses is not working and the airline is not staffed enough to make proper scheduling changes, which is creating a ripple effect and,"creating chaos throughout the nation."USDOT is concerned by Southwest’s unacceptable rate of cancellations and delays & reports of lack of prompt customer service.
Yesterday, Southwest told passengers that the company would pay for hotel rooms, rental cars and transportation for people stranded in Houston for the week. The city of Houston also reportedly provided buses to passengers looking to leave the airport.In a statement, Southwest said people whose flights have been canceled may request a full refund or receive a flight credit, which does not expire.
