Fire erupts at First Baptist Dallas church in downtown. Three alarms were called in as firefighters battled the blaze for more than 90 minutes.

At 6:05 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue Responders were called to the building 1717 San Jacinto Street in downtown Dallas, fire Capt. Robert Borse said in a statement. The fire was located in the secondary chapel of the downtown megachurch.The Dallas Morning NewsHow did the fire start?One resident who lives several blocks away said she heard a “boom” loud enough to rattle her windows. But Borse said first responders could not confirm whether the boom had occurred.

Lovvorn, executive pastor of First Baptist Dallas, told The Dallas Morning News that he believes the fire started shortly after 6 p.m.The fire has appeared to worsen since first responders were first called, with dark gray smoke continuing to fill the sky above the chapel and church.
