The spectacle will be visible in its full ring of fire glory across nine states, sweeping from Oregon to Padre Island, Tex.
Residents in Oregon will get to see the eclipse early in their day, as it begins at just after 9 a.m. local time and cruises past Texas around midday. The period of full annularity — when all but but an outer ring of the sun is blocked — lasts for two to three minutes in most places — but Albuquerque will get almost five minutes.Vanderpool, Tex.
“Anything with the sun you've got to use solar viewing glasses or indirect viewing methods, in order to safely look at it. You should not look at the sun,” Petro said. You might as well get the glasses now, because any you get for Saturday can also be used during the total solar eclipse — and are the same you may have used for previous eclipse events.
A fun tip: If you don’t have glasses, but you have a spaghetti strainer, you can hold the strainer out and allow the sun to cast dozens of partial eclipses on the ground.If you aren’t fortunate enough to live along the annular eclipse’s viewing path – or can’t travel to see it—Along the path of the annular eclipse, from Oregon to Texas, computer models project mostly clear skies.
