“What’s really changing is that we’re taking over the customer service side of things. You’ll still have TxDOT managing the toll lanes, and TxDOT and other tolling authorities will continue setting the toll rates for the various roads. The Harris County Toll Road Authority is not setting your toll rates.” “I think one of the biggest things drivers will notice is more places where they can pay their bill or get help with their account,” Gray said. “We’ve opened EZ TAG store locations in Austin and the surrounding areas, giving people more access to in-person support.” Gray explained that HCTRA recently launched a new campaign aimed at helping drivers better understand the transition and what it means for those who use toll roads in the Austin area.While the Harris County Toll Road Authority operates in Houston, Gray shared why the organization is communicating directly with Central Texas drivers and how those changes could impact their toll road experience. “The Harris County Toll Road Authority is not managing the toll lanes here in the Austin area,” Gray said. “What we are doing is providing customer service support to help simplify billing and make the process easier for drivers.
