A former Streetsboro councilman, convicted of sending a lewd photograph to a 13-year-old boy whose house he later tried to sneak into, was sentenced Tuesday to spend a year in prison.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony, after a three-day trial in April. Jurors found him not guilty of a second-degree felony child porn charge that carried a potential sentence of eight years in prison.Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Kathleen Ann Sutula said that Ruediger’s lack of criminal history and reputation in the community did not weigh into her sentencing decision.
The boy invited Ruediger to his house in Mayfield Heights and told him to climb in through the bathroom window just after midnight, according to court records. Ruediger then sent the boy a sexually charged message in which he said he saw through the window how “cute” the boy was, the records said. Investigators linked the account to Ruediger, then posed as the boy and invited him to meet up at a bagel shop on April 29, 2019. Police arrested Ruediger after he pulled into the parking lot.
