Holidaymakers across the country are facing travel uncertainty as flights have been grounded all over the UK.

A delayed flight can ruin a holiday before it has begun and passengers have certain rights if their journey is significantly affected.

As of 3.15pm on Monday, the National Air Traffic Services has said the technical issue has been "identified and remedied", but flight delays are likely to continue as officials work to manage timetables as normal operations resume. Passengers with upcoming flights are being warned to check with their booked airlines for information.

The CAA states that airlines are required by UK law to provide compensation if a flight arrives to its destination more than three hours late - but only in certain situations. Disruptions caused by things like extreme weather, airport or air traffic control employee strikes or other "extraordinary circumstances" are not eligible for compensation.

Top Trending Stories Today According to CAA, the law splits the set timeframes into the following three categories.Top Health Stories Today The airline must provide you with these items until it is able to fly you to your destination, no matter how long the delay lasts or why it has occurred. The same must be offered in the case of cancelled flights.
