Schools dismissed early in one central Ohio district, making it twice in one week.
HEAT ADVISORY for central and western Ohio through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Heat Index is expected to be above 100 degrees.Inconveniencing parents may come at an inopportune time, especially as the school district prepares to ask them for more money in November.30 minutes early at the middle school s and 45 minutes early at the high school s.
The district says it's an ongoing problem nationwide, and ABC 6 news has been reporting on driver shortages in Westerville since at least 2021.This time, as the district asks for parents t be understanding, it is also time to ask them for money. There's a levy on the ballot that could add $172 to yearly tax bills for a $100,000 home.Honestly it is an inconvenience for parents and for families," he said. "They’re asking for too much money this time.
The levy would fund improvements to four different schools in the district, and also fund the operating budget. The district is actively advertising for drivers. Krinsky says he understands there's a shortage, but says there's money already in the budget to pay them. “Offer them whatever incentives you need to be competitive there, but stay within in the parameters of what the taxpayers have said is okay. So again, I don’t think they need more money for that.”
