CLEVELAND, Ohio -- This week, Ohio’s cannabis dispensaries, holding both recreational and medicinal licenses, can begin selling to recreational users -- a month ahead of the projected start date.

We had some hot days in recent weeks, but compared to the rest of the nation, not so much. How much might our increasingly mild weather play into how attractive the region is to people looking to escape places with extreme weather? Why is Congressman Dave Joyce, a big champion of the Greal Lakes, putting his focus on the Coast Guard and demanding information about its rescue operations on Lake Erie?In a breviate episode of Today in Ohio Today, we have only two of our normal guests. Laura Johnston is out. It’s Today in Ohio, the news podcast discussion from cleveland .com and the Plain Dealer. I’m Chris Quinn here with Lisa Garvin and Leila Tassi. And Lisa, let’s start with marijuana.

What does take to put it on and what are some of the numbers showing the scale of the whole shebang? Well, pretty big.It is pretty big. Yes, the fair, turns out, is more than just this 12 -day event. It’s part of the Ohio Expo Center, which is a year -round convention center in Columbus. This place hosts hundreds of events and welcomes millions of visitors every year.

So the fairgrounds also host events for about 293 a day a year, which attracts around three million visitors annually. And the space can be customized for different events, concerts, car shows, youth sports tournaments, and things like that. And although the last economic impact study was in 2011, it’s estimated that the fairgrounds contribute about $500 million a year to the Columbus area and Ohio’s economy.I was surprised at just how big it is.

They have first tier amenities with third tier pricing and construction crews that they hire can work longer in the Ohio climate than they could in Florida. Jack Day comes to us from Naples, Florida. He’s a runner. And he said he actually shaved 20 minutes off of his half marathon time after moving to.Look, you lived in Houston.

North Coast Harbor and it just sounds like it’s shaping up to be pretty cool. Of course, you know, there’s the question of how Brown Stadium would factor into this plan, which is on everybody’s minds right now. But the city is saying this is a project that’s going to move forward with or without the20 years ago when Jane Campbell was mayor was the first time we really talked about the shoreway and changing the way it works.

Perhaps the most important gathering since the Republican National Convention in 2016 is happening in Cleveland this week. Lisa, why does our travel editor Susan Glazer say this is so key to the future of our travel industry?Well, 5 ‚000 people are coming to Cleveland this weekend for the annual American Society of Association Executives at the Huntington Convention Center.

pounced on him. The body camera footage that Cleveland .com obtained shows Coyne slamming Kynes to the ground, pointing a gun at his face and threatening him. He also fired his taser three times within 40 seconds and punched Kynes several times in the face and body. Kynes ended up with multiple injuries, including a fractured orbital, nasal bone and rib. Despite the severity of the force that was used, the sheriff’s department reviewed the incident.
