$19 million sporting complex is nearing completion amid a huge housing boom in the area.

Not long ago, North Kellyville was farming land, but it has seen 13,000 people move there in the last five years and $100 million spent on parks and sporting fields. The sporting complex on Samantha Riley Drive Reserve will be completed next month and a boost for grassroots sporting teams.Grassroots teams are struggling to keep up with demand.

"Whether you are here for sport or just to enjoy the outdoors ... it's a wonderful space," Hills Shire Mayor Peter Gangemi said. "In the Hills we have a very active population ... that's what these families want, they want a park within walking distance, a sporting field within suburbs."The council wants to ensure the area is known as the garden shire and has plenty of green space well into the future.
