After a group of vandals defaced a squirrel statue named after a beloved community member, police are asking the public for help.
Squirrels just can’t seem to get a break in Texas . After a group of vandals defaced a squirrel statue named after a beloved member of the community, the Seguin Police Department is now turning to the public for help identifying those responsible — and they’ve got surveillance footage of the trio they believe did it. Seguin authorities were notified of the incident early Thursday morning, when they responded to a call about “criminal mischief” in the 200 block of N. River St.
Selena’s killer, Yolanda Saldivar, is up for parole “This statue was dedicated to the late Wendy Parker, a cherished member of our community, and was unveiled less than two months ago,” the department added. Wendy was the wife of Seguin City Manager Steve Parker. She died in November 2023. “It’s heartbreaking to see this symbol of community love and remembrance damaged.” Community engagement officer Stephanie Larrimore said the act of vandalism occurred around 2:15 a.m.
News 4 San Antonio’s Diana Rocco quietly departs from station. Why? “Seguin, we need your help!” the department added in its Friday post. Within the post, authorities attached an image of the vandalized squirrel statue, as well as an image of the trio allegedly involved. “If you recognize the individuals or have any information, please contact us at 830-379-2123.”
