Conditions began on the chilly side Saturday morning, with readings in the mid-20s and light winds making it feel like the mid-teens. But there is good news: sunshine is on tap for most of the day.An area of high pressure will bring light northerly breezes, but as it slides east, winds will shift out of the southwest. NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack explained the change in wind direction will deliver a bit of a warm-up. The hour-by-hour Stormcast shows sunshine dominating through the noon hour and into the afternoon as well. A couple of high, thin clouds are possible, but all in all, nice conditions are expected, with a forecast high around 50 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By the evening, temperatures will drop back into the mid-40s, so you'll want a light jacket if you're going to be out and about. Overnight, we'll likely see some clouds as temperatures drop down to a low of 40 degrees. Southwesterly breezes will help hold those temperatures in check as well. Sunday will bring more clouds than sunshine, but as a tradeoff, we'll see warmer temperatures. Highs will likely reach the low 60s, Sack said. The work and school week will begin on a pleasant note Monday, with readings starting off in the low 50s. Temperatures will climb significantly throughout the day as highs soar into the mid-70s.A chance for strong-to-severe thunderstorms arrives on Tuesday, ahead of drastically cooler weather on Wednesday. Highs are only expected to reach the mid-40s then, as a cold front passes through and knocks temperatures down. Another cool day is expected on Thursday for the White Sox home opener, with highs sitting in the mid-40s and a chance for a shower. Conditions will improve Friday, as another warm-up begins and high temperatures climb into the mid-50s.
