The Seattle Seahawks defense is guilty of many crimes when their best players don’t play. But when they do... Tongue in cheek, I tweeted out a fun fact right before the game: The Seahawks are undefeated when Byron Murphy plays. Three wins, no losses. One victory later, the fact remains fun. And while the tweet definitely was in jest, it’s not UNtrue. Tell me the D doesn’t look different with him in the middle of that line, drawing double teams.
Last week this space predicted the takeaway stats couldn’t slump forever when the Seahawks were pressuring opponents at a top 10 rate. Not to toot my own horn, but bomp-bada-BAWWWWW. Validation. Two picks and that Mafe-Hall bit of glorious teamwork later, Seattle ends up +3 on the day and wins by three scores. Sacks remain steady. TFL’s need a boost but again, improved health should play a factor going forward.
