But her honesty about the negative impact of partisanship on politics and governance is refreshing. And watching how she manages her business should have us all reflecting on how much disservice the two major political parties are doing to the country now.
She worries about the country, about the nature of discourse and the impact of social media on how we treat one another. There is a better way, she said, where we listen to one another respectfully. “I hope it’s reflected in the way I conduct council meetings every Tuesday,” she said. ”I have men and women who serve alongside me that I don’t always agree with, but I have often said the way we treat one another on this dais, the way we treat the public that comes to us is incredibly important. Personal attacks, made up information, have no place at City Hall or anywhere else. Let’s have the debate, but let’s work together.
In an interview with our board, Parker focused on the need to stay strong on public safety, to build workforce opportunities, to compassionately address homelessness without accepting encampments and to ensure that Fort Worth is making the capital investments necessary to embrace the growth that is coming.

What happens in Fort Worth will echo throughout North Texas.Her opponents include political newcomer and entrepreneur Jennifer Castillo, 35, who has studied the issues but has little experience with local government; business owner Ken Bowens Jr., 31; veteran Adrian Smith, 43; and political activist and socialist Alyson Kennedy, 72.
