A 23-year-old man from Waukegan was apprehended by the Antioch Police Department for allegedly breaking into vehicles and garages in the Red Wing Subdivision, using stolen credit cards for fraudulent purchases.
A Waukegan man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly breaking into vehicles and garages in Antioch and using stolen credit cards for fraudulent purchases. Jose Tobias, 23, faces multiple charges, including one count of residential burglary, two counts of identity theft and two counts of unlawful use of a credit card, police said. The Antioch Police Department began investigating on Dec. 8 after reports of a person entering vehicles and garages in the Red Wing Subdivision.
Authorities said the victim's credit cards were used at various locations in the Lake County area. Surveillance footage from those transactions matched video from the Red Wing Subdivision, leading to arrest warrants for Tobias. 'Antioch is a safe community, but we must remain vigilant, as no community is immune to criminal activity such as these incidents. We continue to urge residents to take precautions such as locking doors, securing valuables, and reporting suspicious activity. These simple steps can greatly reduce the risk of becoming a crime victim. While our officers are actively patrolling and working to deter crime, we rely on the partnership of our community to help keep Antioch safe,' said Antioch Police Chief Guttschow.Tobias was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning
