Just after 8 p.m. on Oct. 4, a detective with the Sevier County Sheriff's Department was made aware of an "accidental shooting" near 1890 North Flat Canyon Loop Road, the affidavit states.After he shot the skunk, Ence put his gun down and noticed dust from a UTV in a dirt field north of his property, the affidavit states.
Ence called 911 to report "an accident." The woman told Ence they "heard a loud boom, which sounded like a gunshot, the back window of the UTV broke, and the man fell into her lap," the affidavit states. The victim was transported to the Utah Valley Hospital via air ambulance but died from his injuries the next day.
