Atlantic hurricane season, so far, isn’t as busy as expected. We'll take it.

There were no named storms in the tropical Atlantic on Tuesday, but the National Hurricane Center was watching three areas for development. The two in orange could become tropical depressions over the weekend.The tropical Atlantic continued its usually long quiet streak on Tuesday.

The quiet stretch looks to continue for at least the next few days, but there could be some activity this weekend. The National Weather Service in Mobile will continue to keep a close eye on the system in case that changes.There was a second tropical wave being monitored on Tuesday, but it was in the far eastern Atlantic closer to the African coast.

The hurricane center added a third area to watch to the board on Tuesday. This one was in the central Atlantic about halfway between the west coast of Africa and the Lesser Antilles.
