“Saturday Night Live” returned to the airwaves over the weekend for the first time since April, meaning there were plenty of current events to catch up on during its ever-popular Weekend Update segment.
Cast member Kenan Thompson impersonated Coach Prime as a guest on the Weekend Update, poking fun at Sanders’ eternal confidence and optimism poignantly after his team blew a, Thompson touted CU not just as a winning football team, but also as “winning at life.” When Jost reminded him that CU has technically lost a few — the team’s record is 4-3 — Thompson clapped back in true Sanders fashion,
The segment also teased about Sanders move from a historically black college in Mississippi to a historically white college in Colorado and offered SNL a chance to air a clip from when Coach Prime performed a musical number as the show’s host back in 1995.
