The trial of the five men charged with the murder of former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa continues at theOn Wednesday, State witness and cellphone data anayst Lieutenant Colonel Gideon Gouws testified about links between all the accused.

Steyn told the court in July 2023 that accused 5 a well-known hitman from KwaZulu-Natal Fisokuhle Ntuli called Meyiwa’s girlfriend Kelly KhumaloMeyiwa was shot at Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014 in what was initially thought to be a botched robbery. Police have since indicated that it was a hit.

Steyn also testified that cellphone records revealed that Khumalo was in contact with accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya. Furthermore, the accused also communicated with each other – this is in contrast to their previous claim that they only met in court for the first time.Five men are on trial for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. MuzikawukhulelwaSibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli are on trial for the murder of Meyiwa.

The men face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence, and possession of ammunition. All five men pleaded not guilty.Court proceedings typically start at 10:00, adjourn at 13:00 for lunch and resume again at 14:00. However, due to unforeseen circumstances on a particular day, there are delays, and sometimes court adjourns for either tea or lunch earlier than the set times indicated above.
