The Warriors' petty king, Steph Curry, came with receipts after winning the NBA title last year. The Kings' fans did it after winning two home playoff games.
for the entirety of Thursday afternoon was a post titled “Let’s prove this guy wrong,” with a screenshot of an article dated Sept. 24, 2022; the headline reads, “Donte DiVincenzo on leaving Kings to sign with Warriors: I wanted a 'winning culture.'”The quote in context wasn't exactly some sort of Kings takedown , and the trending discussion was largely about whether the Kings even gave DiVincenzo a qualifying offer .
To DiVincenzo's credit, his assessment of a “winning culture” was factual. The Dubs have won four NBA titles in the past eight years , have made the conference title game in six of the past eight, and generally are considered the cream of the NBA crop. The Kings haven't won a title in more than 70 years, haven't had a winning record in the eight seasons prior to this one, and were generally a laughingstock with Luke Walton and Dave Joerger at the helm.
No word yet from the league on whether dragging a role player on another team is or is not part of a “winning culture.”
