A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 12:57 p.m. valid from Friday 4 a.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. for Warren County.
"Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches with locally higher amounts over northern and western Warren County," says the weather service. "Gusty west winds will also cause snow to drift and repeatedly cover untreated roads even when snow is not falling."
"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes and holiday travel," adds the weather service. "During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions.
